A vital part to almost all of our treatment plans at Blue Mountain Family Chiropractic is physical rehabilitation. This includes stretching, therapeutic exercises, and strengthening and stabilization exercises.

Stretching
Stretching are maneuvers shown to help improve function and flexibility. The goal of stretching is to lengthen muscles and tendons allowing for greater range of motion and to take stress off opposing muscle groups.
Therapeutic Exercises
Therapeutic exercises are maneuvers shown to patients to help reduce pain and improve function. These are great to learn because it allows people to help themselves. This reduces the need for pain medications and the need to run to the doctor every time they are in pain. At Blue Mountain Family Chiropractic, you will be shown exercises and other forms of home treatments to aid in pain relief and improve function.
Strengthening Exercises
Strengthening exercises are maneuvers performed with the goal of increasing strength. This is important for people who have developed weakness in certain muscle groups caused by an injury or years of disuse. Even though strength is important, most of the exercises taught at Blue Mountain Family Chiropractic are in the next category, stabilization exercises.
Stabilization Exercises
Stabilization exercises are maneuvers performed with the goal of improving stability of a joint or region of the body. Although strength is important, stability is even more vital. Stability refers to the body's ability to contract the proper muscles at just the right time. When that does not occur, pain and injury can result. In many patients we find that physically, everything is fine. However, when stability is tested, they show major deficiencies. Through the use of specific exercises, stability can be improved, therefore reducing pain and improving function.
